Engagement is such a unique and transformative season—one that’s about way more than picking the perfect dress or finalizing the guest list. It’s about preparing your heart and soul for a lifelong, Christ-centered partnership. In this episode of Ever Be, I’m sharing insights on how to embrace the beauty (and challenges!) of engagement as a Catholic or Christian woman.
Embrace the Sacredness
While wedding planning is exciting, engagement is about so much more than just coordinating color schemes and Pinterest-worthy details. This is a sacred time to deepen your relationship with God and your fiancé, ensuring your marriage is built on a foundation of faith that will last a lifetime.
Family Dynamics & Wedding Planning
Let’s be real—family dynamics can add a whole other layer to engagement. Whether it’s managing expectations, navigating opinions, or balancing different backgrounds, open communication is key. And when it comes to the logistics—venues, guest lists, catering—it’s okay to ask for help! Lean on the people who support you and delegate where you can.
Commitment to Chastity
With your wedding day approaching, staying committed to chastity can feel more challenging. Set clear boundaries, have honest conversations, and lean on prayer and spiritual guidance to support each other in this commitment.
Build a Solid Support Network
Surround yourself with people who will not only celebrate your big day but will also support your marriage for years to come. Whether it’s family, a trusted priest, or a mentor couple, having a strong support system is invaluable.
Prioritize Marriage Prep
If your diocese’s marriage prep program feels lacking, seek out additional resources. Discussing topics like finances, communication, and family planning before the wedding can set you up for a stronger marriage.
Plan a Meaningful Wedding Mass
Your wedding Mass is the heart of your day—don’t rush through planning it! Choose readings and music that reflect your faith and love story. For us, the Mass was the most sacred and beautiful part of our wedding.
Final Thoughts
Engagement is a time of growth, learning, and deepening love. Stay rooted in prayer, embrace the messy and joyful moments, and remember that this is just the beginning of your lifelong vocation.
