There’s something profoundly peaceful about walking into a home and seeing an image of Our Blessed Mother. It’s as if her presence gently fills the space, reminding us of her love, her faith, and her constant intercession on our behalf. We have a large statue of Mary on our front porch for all to see when they come to our home.

One of the simplest yet most powerful ways to *Catholify* your home is by displying a Marian image or statue. Whether it’s a framed image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, a small statue of the Immaculate Heart, or a beautiful depiction of Mary and the Christ Child, this intentional act invites her maternal presence into your home and daily life.  

Why Honor Mary in Your Home?

A common misconception about Catholicism is that we worship Mary. Let’s set the record straight—Catholics do not worship Mary. Instead, we venerate her, which means we honor and respect her for her unique role in salvation history.  

Mary is the Mother of God, chosen by the Father to bear His Son, Jesus Christ. She was the first tabernacle, carrying the Word made flesh in her womb. Her “yes” to God’s plan changed the course of history, and because of her deep faith and obedience, we look to her as an example of holiness.  

The Church teaches that Mary continually intercedes for us, bringing our prayers before her Son, just as she did at the Wedding at Cana when she told the servants, *“Do whatever He tells you”* (John 2:5). By placing an image of her in your home, you are visually reminded to ask for her intercession and to strive to imitate her trust in God.  

A Daily Reminder to Pray

In the busyness of everyday life, having a Marian image in your home serves as a gentle call to prayer. It reminds you to pause, to lift your heart to Jesus through Mary, and to entrust your worries, joys, and intentions to her.  

Some beautiful ways to incorporate this devotion into your daily routine:  

• Start your day with a simple Marian prayer, like the Hail Mary or Memorare as you pass by her image.  
• Light a candle near her statue and offer your day to Jesus through her.  
• Pray the Rosary as a family in front of an image of Our Lady.  

Where to Place a Marian Image in Your Home 

There’s no “right” place to display an image or statue of Mary, but here are a few ideas:  

• By the front door– A reminder to entrust your coming and going to Our Lady’s care.  
• In the living room – A central place where the family gathers, inviting her presence into your home life.  
• In your prayer corner or home altar– A dedicated space for quiet prayer and devotion where you can be inspired by her beauty and grace.  
• In a child’s room – A way to foster love for Mary from a young age. My grandma gave me a small statue of Mary and baby Jesus that I grew up always having on my nightstand.

Wherever you choose, let it be a space that encourages you to draw nearer to Christ through His mother. Mary’s mission has always been to bring us closer to her Son. When we welcome her into our home, we allow her to gently lead us deeper into prayer, trust, and love for Jesus.
